The basis of my genealogy obsession started off from a gaudy golden ring, inscribed in my initials, “J R”, a barber kit belonging to my late-Italian great-grandfather, and the infinite possibilities hidden amongst my great-grandmother’s “supposed” Irish and German roots.  This eventually evolved into a place of self-education, stress-relief, deep fascination, and eventually, my business.

My research has led me to meet many individuals in my family, including my late maternal great-grandfather Giuseppe “Joseph” Romano, as well as being able to get more in touch with my paternal grandfather João Rebelo. Giuseppe came over in the summer of 1921 through Ellis Island along with his sister; Occupation: Barber. My paternal  family mainly comes from a small town in Portugal, my grandfather a fisherman on large fishing vessels. Both were men who came over with not much more than high prospects and a foreign tongue to provide their families and future generations with numerous prospects to come.

Founded in February of 2019, JRebeloGenealogy is a place where I plan to provide genealogy services to those who want to find out of about their background, perhaps a family mystery, or even just out of mere curiosity. Who knows what you'll be able to discover?
